Civic San Diego is a city-owned non-profit that is the entrepreneurial development partner for targeted urban neighborhoods. We are a one-stop shop with a Neighborhood Development Toolbox that lets us move quickly with public-private development projects and programs.
Under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer/Chief Operating Officer, the Assistant Vice President, Public Works will manage a public works department with significant capital projects. The incumbent will directly manage two-three staff employees as well as specific projects. The Assistant Vice President, Public Works will represent the department with a high degree of leadership and professionalism, and will speak with clarity and authority on a wide variety of complex technical issues.
Candidates must be a Registered Engineer in the State of California and hold a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university. Candidates must also possess at least eight years of increasingly responsible and varied professional experience in the planning, construction, management and inspection of public works programs and projects, and at least three years of management responsibility. Candidates must be capable of working effectively and communicating diplomatically with Board members, staff, residents, citizen and business groups, regulatory bodies, developers, and contractors.
