Green River – Rock Springs – Sweetwater County, Wyoming
Green River, Wyoming is located in the southwest corner of the state. It is nestled between gorgeous rock formations with the Green River running through the heart of town. It has been referred to as an oasis in the “High Desert”. The River has been the drawing point for early settlers and has served as a transportation center for the Overland Trail, Cherokee Trail, Lincoln Highway, Union Pacific Transcontinental Railroad – and now, Interstate 80. The area is rich in history and early exploration and currently has a population of 13,000.
The Green River Joint Powers Water Board is seeking a new General Manager. The General Manager reports to and receives policy direction from the Board of Directors and serves at the pleasure of the Board. The General Manager oversees the administrative, planning, engineering, financial and operations/maintenance activities of the Joint Powers Water Board. The General Manager serves as the principal representative communicating and implementing the Board’s policy decisions with employees, other governmental bodies (both legislative and regulatory), consultants, community organizations and the general public.
The General Manager must possess a wide range of skills and knowledge necessary to effectively manage the Board’s activities. The position requires the ability to interact and collaborate with other agencies, and to resolve issues. The General Manager must possess strong interpersonal skills and communicates clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, to maintain a sound working relationship with the Board, staff and other entities. The General Manager is also expected to conduct him or herself with interigh and maintain high ethical standards in the completion of work tasks.
The successful candidate must possess progressively responsible experience in managing multifaceted projects and programs, demonstrated leadership in the public sector, and a working knowledge and understanding of water issues. Broad experience in a management position in a public agency, and administrative operations is also required. A minimum of seven years’ experience in a supervisory capacity is required, with increased responsibility in managing complex projects and programs.
A degree in Public or Business Administration, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or closely related field is required. An advanced degree is desirable.
Compensation and Benefits
Total annual compensation is negotiable, and will be competitive and dependent upon the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. Benefits include participation in the Wyoming Public Employees Retirement system. Benefits include health insurance including medical and dental, and life insurance for both single and family coverage. There is a vacation/sick leave program.
