Title: Public Works Manager

The City of Valdosta Public Works Department is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Manager. This position is responsible for Fleet/Equipment Maintenance, Facilities Maintenance, Right-of-Way Maintenance, and Residential/ Commercial Sanitation services. This position is also responsible for planning and managing all of the City of Valdosta’s Public Works services in accordance with professional standards, applicable laws, and City Council directives.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering, Public or Business Administration, or a closely related field, and at least eight (8) years of experience of which three (3) years of experience must be in a supervisory and administrative role is required. Experience in the operation and maintenance of public works facilities and services is required. The candidate must have the ability to work in a team-oriented, customer-focused organization. Possession of a valid Georgia Commercial driver license (CDL) and an acceptable driving record are required.
This position may be required to work extended or unusual hours to oversee maintenance repairs and operations, including disaster response services, and attend City Council meetings or events as needed.
