The Metropolitan Council's Environmental Services Division is looking for an experienced Business Unit Manager to provide overall leadership, management, and technical support for the Solids Business Unit, which is responsible for the treatment and combustion of over 200 dry tons per day of wastewater biosolids and the operation of high pressure boilers to capture the energy from the combustion process.

Education/Experience Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Studies, or a related field
  • Eight (8) years of wastewater treatment experience, or experience in a similar industrial field (power plant, refinery or waste-to-energy facility)
  • Five (5) years in a lead/supervisory/project management/management role

Qualification Equivalency:  Years of experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis, providing the experience is in wastewater treatment, or a closely related field.

License Requirements:  1)  Valid Class D driver's license,   2) MN Class A Wastewater Operators Certificate*, or the ability to obtain within twelve (12) months of hire.

*The successful candidate must obtain a MN Class A Wastewater Operator Certificate within twelve (12) months of hire, if he/she does not already have it.  Applicants that have an equivalent level of certification from another state will meet the qualification requirement but will be required to obtain a MN Class A within the given timeframe.
