This is an extraordinary opportunity to help lead engineering transportation initiatives of one of the nation’s most dynamic cities. In addition, this Section will assist in providing street rehabilitation and pavement management, sewer and storm drain design, master plans, and seeking grant funding for engineering projects. The Engineering Manager, under the direction of the City Engineer and Public Works Director, will identify priorities that will determine the path of the City’s future. The Engineering Manager will manage, supervise, and coordinate the activities and operations of the Engineering Services Section. The ideal candidate for this position will be a highly organized, “hands on,” decisive, and innovative leader with superb interpersonal skills, judgment, and integrity. Requires a Bachelor’s degree and six (6) years of increasingly responsible professional engineering, transportation planning, and/or traffic experience including two (2) years of administrative and supervisory responsibility. An equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. Requires possession of one of the following: State of California registration as a Civil Engineer, or State of California registration as a Professional Traffic Engineer.
