Executive Director. The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority (CFPUA), located along the Cape Fear Coast near Wilmington in southeastern North Carolina, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to serve as its next Executive Director. CFPUA provides a range of services that include high quality water treatment, distribution and sewage collection, and treatment services that benefit the Cape Fear service area. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Business Management, Public Administration, Finance or closely related field of study, with an MBA preferred or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Candidates should also possess five (5) or more years of progressively responsible senior management and leadership experience in a comparably sized public or private utility of similar complexity. An in-depth knowledge and understanding of utility budgeting, local, state and federal environmental policy, rules and laws, capacity management, utility operations, the governmental development process related to utility or similar industries are key areas required for successful candidates. Experience with oversight of and compliance with EPA Consent Decrees and asset management, as well as familiarity with ISO 14001programs, is an important consideration. The ability to work with and build consensus for a realistic vision and strategic plan with an active and engaged Board is a strong plus. Possession of a professional engineers’ license is preferred.
The salary range for the position is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
