THIS JOB POSTING IS TO FILL TWO (2) FULL-TIME POSITIONS AND TO CREATE AN ELIGIBILITY REGISTER TO FILL FUTURE ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN, SENIOR POSITIONS WITHIN THE NEXT 12 MONTHS

The Snohomish County Department of Public Works Engineering Services Division is seeking highly qualified and motivated individuals to fill positions in the Construction Engineering group.

Well qualified candidates will have field experience in a variety of road and bridge construction projects, will excel at construction management and communication, will understand the importance and principals of accurate construction documentation, be familiar with the acceptance and field testing of materials, and will have a working knowledge of the WSDOT Standard Specifications and the WSDOT Construction Manual, will be highly productive, and will work well in a team environment with a positive, professional attitude. Additional desirable experiences and abilities include the preparation of construction change orders and contract claim research and resolution.

The position provides on-site construction project management and inspection. The position either acts as construction project engineer overseeing an entire project or is responsible for the inspection of specific construction activities on larger projects. The Engineering Technician Senior leads the work of subordinate employees and trains subordinates as required. Duties include coordination with developers, design engineers, public agencies, consultants, property owners, utilities, and the general public to proactively resolve construction problems. Plan reviews for constructability and accuracy, estimated quantities, appropriate contract items, and the contract specifications prior to project advertisement are also required duties. The preferred candidate will have experience preparing inspection reports, pay records, and progress estimates. Excellent oral and written communication skills are highly desirable.
