Coordinate, study, plan, design, implement, promote and report on the City’s water, sanitary sewer and storm drainage systems. Coordinate compliance with city, county, state and federal environmental codes and permitting, especially the City’s National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permit. Provide input on environmental issues and recommendations to the Director relating to drinking water and sanitary sewer contracts and system improvements. Represent the City at meetings, associations, and conferences. Research and recommend storm water best management practices (BMP’s); assist in the application of and the effective and efficient administration of grants.

Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.   Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work with and facilitate a variety of groups and associations.  Have the ability to present technical issues in a readily understandable manner.  Registration in the State ofMichiganas a Professional Engineer is required.  Valid MI driver’s license with good driving record.

Four to Seven years of professional engineering experience in the design and construction of municipal engineering projects, storm water master planning and environmental issues.  Must have a proven record of administering grants.  It is helpful if candidates have established relationships with other local, county and state organizations.  

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE).  Master’s Degree Preferred.
