The City of Rockford Water Division is seeking to hire a Water Treatment Supervisor to oversee the operation and maintenance of water treatment equipment associated with the City’s drinking water supply. This position works alongside three other supervisors (plant operations, water quality, and maintenance) within the Production Section.
The City has 27 water supply wells and uses granular activated carbon, pressure filtration, and hydrous manganese oxide (HMO) treatment processes. Duties of the Water Treatment Supervisor include monitoring the performance of water treatment processes and equipment; planning, scheduling, and prioritizing work to maintain the optimal performance of water treatment equipment; and supervising water operators, vendors, and contractors in performing the required activities to properly maintain and operate water treatment equipment.
The successful candidate will have considerable knowledge of, and experience in, the operation and maintenance of chemical feed and water filtration equipment including two years formal training and five years experience in water or wastewater plant operation and maintenance. Three years of experience must be as supervisor or lead worker. Related experience which provides the knowledge, abilities and skills required by the position, or any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and training which ensures the ability to perform the work may be submitted for required experience.
