The Village of Bensenville has a vacancy in the Public Works Department:

Public Works Maintenance Technician I

This position under supervision performs a full-range of duties in operating construction equipment and driving trucks in the care, maintenance, and repair of streets, utilities, water distribution system, right-of ways, facilities and the Village’s urban forest. Performs snow removal and other duties associated with snow and ice control. Follows standard safety procedures and regulations. Performs manual labor tasks related to assigned work as required. Performs tasks related to the construction, operation, care, and maintenance of the Village’s infrastructure, facilities, grounds and equipment. Operates heavy trucks, pay loader, backhoe loaders, power rollers, tree chipper, skid-steer with attachments, lawn mowers with attachments, and other equipment in construction and renovation projects. Maintains and services equipment and trucks. Must be available for emergency off hour duty in a variety of environmental conditions throughout the year. Must have the ability to adapt to changing work assignments on a seasonal or daily basis. The hours of work are 40 per week.

 

Requirements Include:

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or GED
  • Experience preferred in streets repairs, construction, facility maintenance, urban forestry maintenance, utility maintenance, or related field.
  • Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brakes endorsement or the ability to obtain a CDL within six (6) months of hire.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, experience, or field certifications related to the work performed which produces the competencies desired for the position will be considered.
