POSITION PURPOSE

The Application Specialist is a professional, technical position that assists and reports to the Maintenance Management System coordinator in administration, development, training and implementation of applications administered by the Public Works and Utilities Department. The position is responsible for technical and administrative support of the Departments Accela Automation asset management system, Laserfiche document management system, InfraLogix pavement management system and GIS applications. The Application Specialist creates and maintains complex queries and reports used by end users and supervisory staff for governmental reporting, performance measurement and various other internal information needs. Incumbent will act as a liaison between Information Technology staff, consultants, and vendors to coordinate system upgrades, technical troubleshooting, and testing. The Application Specialist is also responsible for assuring ongoing application resource availability, reliability and serviceability critical in providing the community with a well-maintained and sustainable infrastructure.

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university which includes a majority of coursework in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems (CIS), Management Information Systems (MIS) or a directly related fieldThree (3) years of experience working in an administrative office environment with high capacity applications that support critical department operationsTwo (2) years of experience designing and developing reports using SQL Server Reporting ServicesDemonstrated knowledge of relational database design and structureDemonstrated experience in and knowledge of application and data managementWorking knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and methodsAdvanced knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and AccessExcellent human relations skills, excellent analytical skills, good conflict management skills, a strong participative management orientation, and a strong detail and results-oriented styleMust possess a valid Colorado Driver License, provide proof of a safe driving record, and maintain a safe driving record for continued employment

Preferred:

Experience with asset management/maintenance management software applications strongly preferredExperience using Accela Automation softwareExperience with Esri and its integration with computerized maintenance management systemsExperience using Laserfiche document management software
