The City of Hurst, Texas is seeking an engineering professional who has solid experience managing engineering and construction projects for streets, water and sewer lines, storm water facilities, public buildings and private development including the supervision of contractors and construction inspectors to be the next City Engineer. The City Engineer is a key member of the Public Works Department management team and is responsible for administering and managing engineering, construction and geographic information system activities and budgets for the city. The City engineer is also responsible for review and coordination of private development and city project plans, the Capital Improvements Programs involving street, water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and traffic signal projects and administration of the floodplains and community rating system. The City Engineer oversees five full time employees including the GIS Manager, Project Manager, Senior Designer, Senior Construction Inspector and Construction Inspector. The position also supervises two part time employees; the GIS Technician and Engineering Intern. The 2012-2013 budget managed by this position is $1.3 million. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited engineering school and five years of experience in a related field with a minimum of three years in a supervisory capacity required. A Texas Professional Engineer License is required. Valid appropriate State of Texas driver’s license with good driving record required. Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) is preferred, but must be in progress within six months of hiring. A related Master’s Degree is preferred.
