The City of Port Arthur seeks a highly qualified, experienced individual, to lead the Department of Utility Operations. This position functions as part of the City Manager’s executive team with significant responsibility for the oversight, management, and regulatory compliance of the department.

This position has six (6) direct reports and manages water treatment and distribution as well as wastewater collection, conveyance, and distribution. The City has Trickling Filter and Conventional Activated Sludge Plants as relates to sewer and IDI Solids Contact Process Plants as relates to water. This position will provide highly complex assistance and analysis to the City Manager, ACM-Operations, Director of Public Works and City Engineer. A qualifying combination of experience and training would be: seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in the administration/regulatory compliance of water treatment, wastewater treatment, utility maintenance to include (3) three years in a supervisory position. Possession of a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering, or a closely related discipline. Possession of, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of appointment, Texas Registered Professional Engineer’s license. Possession of, or ability to obtain, TCEQ or equivalent Class “B” Wastewater and Water certification is desirable.

The salary for this position is $81,539/year to $101,487/yr. (DOQ&E) with excellent fringe benefits after six (6) months of employment. A complete description is available at www.portarthur.net.
