DUTIES: Responsible for maintenance & repair in water production & wastewater treatment facilities, including repair of various, pumps, valves, valve actuators, gear boxes & chemical feed systems. Responsible for the day to day maintenance of various related equipment. Must be responsible & uncompromising when the public water supply or wastewater treatment is at risk for any reason. Act as lead on assigned projects as directed. Inspect & perform preventive, predictive & corrective maintenance on equipment & machinery. Report any malfunctioning equipment, develop & implement plans for repairs, obtain quotes & submit purchase order requests. Maintain records of all maintenance & repairs performed. Perform standby emergency call-out duties in maintenance and operations. Operate, inventory, & care for tools & equipment. Assist in maintaining an adequate stock of spare parts, supplies, & back-up equipment. Maintain a clean & safe work place. Coordinate & complete work schedules for maintenance. Assist and/or perform any specialized projects as directed. Label hazardous chemicals, & keep safety data sheets available. May be assigned to perform house cleaning duties & general facility maintenance. Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Must have high school diploma or GED equivalent. Must have experience in pipeline & stainless welding, general welding & fabrication. Must have 5 years experience and/or equivalent specialized schooling and/or on the job training in a related skill area. Must possess, or obtain within thirty days, a valid Class B Oklahoma Commercial Driver's License with required endorsements & maintain a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier. Must obtain both water & wastewater operator licenses according to the following schedule: a temporary license within 10 days; Class "D" within one year; & Class "C" within 3 years. Prefer Water Operator Class B license & a Class C Distribution & Collection Operator license. Must pass a physical examination & a pulmonary function test, for use of a respirator, at a facility designated by the City of Edmond. Must have basic computer & software skills. Ability to write routine reports & correspondence. Ability to calculate figures & amounts. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, & draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions & deal with several abstract & concrete variables.
