The Maintenance Worker II performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in maintaining and constructing streets and roads, drainage and sewer systems, landscaped areas, and other public facilities, including using power tools in street repair and excavation; cleaning gutters and culverts; doing concrete work; painting sign posts and curbs; erecting barricades and warning devices; loading heavy equipment and materials; and performing simple gardening tasks. The work generally requires some understanding of public works construction and maintenance procedures. The Maintenance Worker II is expected to work without constant supervision and occasionally assumes lead responsibility. Duties require working outdoors in all types of weather, strength and stamina to work standing up for long periods of time, and lifting heavy objects such as manhole covers and bags of concrete.
Minimum Qualifications: Two (2) years of full-time experience performing construction or related laboring duties requiring the use of hand and power tools, motors, engines, compressors, or pumps. Possession of a Class “A” License is highly desirable.
