The City of Cape Girardeau, Public Works Department, Fleet Maintenance Division, is seeking qualified applicants for employment in the position of Fleet Maintenance Supervisor.
Position is responsible for performing supervisory and technical duties in the maintenance and repair of the city’s fleet of vehicles and equipment.
Supervises and assists mechanics in servicing and maintaining city vehicles and equipment; inspects work completed by mechanics; directs the operation of the parts inventory system; authorizes and reviews repair orders. Establishes priority of repair orders; assigns and schedules work to mechanics; coordinates work to meet customers’ time schedule needs; monitors the preventative maintenance schedule; delivers departmental units for demand services.
Schedules work with outside vendors as necessary. Supervises and coordinates necessary response activities in emergency and special situations. Responds to emergency call out situations as required. Trains, assigns, directs, supervises, evaluates, coaches and disciplines personnel. This position has direct supervision over six (6) mechanic employees.
Successful applicant must possess and utilize a strong working knowledge of the techniques, procedures, tools and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of vehicle mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and HVAC systems, preventative maintenance schedules for vehicles and equipment and cleaning and maintenance procedures and practices. Provide competent training, supervision, leadership and direction to subordinate personnel. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
High School graduate or equivalency and five (5) years of related experience including lead worker activities is required. Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory experience is also required.
Must comply with CDL requirements and maintain a valid Class “B” or better CDL with airbrake endorsement.
Beginning annual salary is $32,836 with standard City benefit package.
