The Village of Tinley Park Public Works Department seeks a full time Facilities and Fleet Superintendent. This employee is responsible for the planning, direction and supervision of the facilities & fleet division employees by making assignments and checking progress on all work activities.

Summary of Responsibilities:  The Facilities and Fleet Superintendent performs semi-skilled, skilled, technical and administrative work in maintaining the Village street lighting, buildings and grounds, and fleet services.  Direct supervision is exercised over crews through working with employees. Work is performed under the administrative direction of the Assistant Director of Public Works, but the employee may make independent decisions as to the details of work.

Requirements: 

The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree in management or related field with a minimum of three years progressively responsible supervisory experience in public works, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience; must possess working knowledge of modern standard methods, materials, tools, vehicles, equipment and computer applications used in public works infrastructure operation, maintenance, repair, rehabilitation and replacement activities; must possess knowledgeable of applicable federal, state and local rules, regulations and ordinances related to public works’ operations; must possess valid driver’s license;  and must  be available for emergency response.

Residency Requirement: Residency required within the planning area as defined in the Village’s Comprehensive Plan within one (1) year of employment.

Start Salary: $82,353.61 plus generous benefit package including health/dental insurance, IMRF, Life Insurance and other optional programs including deferred compensation.

No Dual Capacity Employment: It is the policy of the Village of Tinley Park to prohibit Village employees from being employed by the Village in two positions regardless of full or part time status.  All employees who hold part-time positions must resign prior to accepting full time positions within the Village.  Exceptions to this policy may only be granted by the recommendation of the Village Manager with consent of the Village Board.
