The City of Vacaville is recruiting for a highly experienced professional engineer to manage a full service public works department with significant capital projects and operational activities that support and improve the quality of life in Vacaville. The Director will be directly responsible for a Department of approximately 85 full-time employees with an operating budget of approximately $20 million and a Capital Improvement Program budget of nearly $72 million. Serving as a key member of the City’s Executive Leadership team, the Director must be a dynamic and innovative professional who is self-confident and able to speak with clarity and authority on a variety of complex technical issues. Bachelor’s degree plus seven (7) years of increasingly responsible public works/engineering experience are required, including four (4) years of administrative and management responsibility. Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer in the State of California, or in another state with reciprocity required. The annual salary range for the Director of Public Works is from $159,564 to $193,928 DOQ, and includes an excellent benefits package.
