The City of Topeka is seeking qualified candidates for a key utility management position which will plan, direct, coordinate and oversee all aspects and activities of the City of Topeka Water Pollution Control division, including directing the work of section managers in the collection, treatment and discharge of wastewater and stormwater. Develops and implements division goals and objectives and develops, implements and administers the division budget. The position also works with and provides key input on capital improvements planning and execution.
The City utilities (water, wastewater, stormwater) are developing a comprehensive plan that focuses on two key areas: 1) Development of private business practices focused on key process indicators to control costs and provide superior service to our customers. 2) Asset Management Planning that focuses on life cycle costing of utility assets and the timely replacement of these assets.
The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, communication and people skills.
Minimum qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in industrial management, public administration, civil engineering or a closely related field. Must have at least five (5) years’ experience in a wastewater and/or stormwater or significantly related facility with at least two (2) years’ experience in the management of such a system.
