LEAD FLEET MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

FLEET SERVICES

TheVillageofDowners Groveis accepting applications for the position of Lead Fleet Maintenance Technician. This position will: provide daily oversight of work performed in the repair and maintenance of the Village’s fleet; perform maintenance and repair work; ensure adherence to safe working practices and procedures; provide training to lower level personnel; and, perform related duties as assigned.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

Must possess a validIllinoisdriver's license and satisfactory motor vehicle record at time of application. A valid Illinois Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement is required within six months of employment. Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) Certification is highly desired.As regulations change, incumbents are expected to obtain certifications required in order to work on certain vehicles, equipment, or in handling materials. These certifications will be designated and specified at the time of hire or as the requirements become necessary to perform the duties of the position.

The following ASE Certifications, or achieved within 12 months – Auto: A4 - Suspension and Steering; A5 – Brakes; A6 - Electrical/Electronic Systems; A7 - Heating and Air Conditioning; Medium/Heavy Trucks: T4 - Brakes; T5 - Suspension and Steering; T6 - Electrical/Electronic Systems; T7 – HVAC; T8 - Preventive Maintenance Instruction; Master-Level ASE Mechanic Certifications are desired.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent and/or knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field. Associates Degree preferred.

The Lead Fleet Maintenance Technician is a bargaining unit position that is represented by Operating Engineers Local 150. The starting salary for this position is dependent on qualifications and progresses annually through a step plan.
