Possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental/Civil Engineering. Business Administration or related field and six years of progressively responsible experience in Solid Waste Management, including at least three years of supervisory experience. Thorough knowledge of: laws and permits governing landfills and waste collections; equipment, practices and procedures related to solid waste management; safety standards and precautions pertaining to the use and operation of motorized equipment and tools used in solid waste collection and disposal. Ability to communicate with media to advertise and promote the various services, schedules and activities of the Solid Waste Management Division. Excellent work history and attendance record. Ability to walk across rough and uneven terrain, during day, night and inclement weather in order to visually inspect conditions. Possession of a valid Missouri driver’s license and an excellent driving record. Possession of a Solid Waste Technician Certificate as issued by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources or equivalent certification by another state.
