Assistant Public Works Director / Maintenance, City of Vallejo CA
The City of Vallejo, population approximately 120,000, located in Solano County midway between Sacramento and San Francisco, is a Charter city with Council-Manager form of government, a FY2012-13 budget of $196 million and 501 authorized staff.
This position is one of three managers reporting to the Public Works Director. Public Works Department, the largest in the City, has approximately 200 people, with approved FTE staff of 96 in Maintenance Division. Responsibilities encompass all facets of municipal maintenance including streets, fleet, water distribution, grounds, facilities, electrical lighting and signal systems and marina operations.
Selected candidate will possess:
· Equivalent of Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in public administration, business management, civil engineering, landscape architecture or related field. Possession of Bachelor’s Degree is highly desirable.
· Seven years of experience managing multiple disciplines and providing administrative oversight (budget, contracts, personnel) in an organization of similar size and complexity. Experience in public works or construction preferred.
· Journey level experience (three years or more) in one or more: street maintenance, fleet maintenance, facilities maintenance, grounds/landscape maintenance, marina operations.
