Enhance Your Own Expertise
By advancing your skills through professional training, you improve your performance and your value to your employer. APWA offers a variety of unique educational programs and self-study materials covering the many aspects of public works. You can choose programs by topic or by your preferred educational medium. APWA's educational opportunities include 2-4 day instructor-led workshops, live online programs, pre-recorded programs which can be viewed as fits your schedule, and a selection of publications.  Many of these educational programs are available in the APWA Store or are free to members in the online Members' Library. To review the variety of topics covered, visit the "Solutions By Topic" section. Most APWA-sponsored programs provide the opportunity to earn your Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or Professional Development Hours (PDHs) and a record of your personal CEU/PDH history is maintained in the APWA database. Professional certification is also available in a selection of public works aspects.  The Donald C. Stone Center for Leadership Excellence in Public Works (DCS Center) brings it all together with a system of career paths with progressive educational experiences that lead to certificates, certifications, CEUs, undergraduate and graduate credits, and degrees.

Accreditation and self-assessment demonstrates an agency's commitment to continuous improvement in the delivery of public works operations and services to the community.
