Sponsored by APWA’s Emergency Management Committee The Illinois Public Works Mutual Aid Network (IPWMAN) has been assisting local agencies since its incorporation in 2009. Learn about the agreements that allow member agencies to respond to requests from other communities; the types of requests they respond to; and the systems in place to make requests, effectively communicate, and dispatch necessary resources. 

Learning Objectives:

1.     Review the agreements/legislation that allows local government agencies to form a public works mutual aid organization.

2.     Demonstrate the specific process for requesting emergency assistance.

3.     Discuss the results of responses to exercises and emergency requests.
