Perpendicular ramps, parallel ramps, blended transitions. It’s all just terminology, right? Wrong! There are specific ADA requirements for each type of curb ramp. Waivers currently allowed, will not be available in the new Public Rights-of-Way Access Advisory Committee (PROWAAC) Guidelines.

Learning Objectives:

1.     Interpret the draft PROWAAC guidelines and gain a better understanding of the requirements for perpendicular and parallel curb ramps as well as blended transitions.

2.     Apply the requirements of the draft PROWAAC guidelines to ensure an ADA compliant curb ramp design.

3.     Provide an accessible curb ramp within existing geometric constraints.
