Sarah Ellis has recently joined APWA as a graphic designer. She was employed at Fahr Beverage, a Budweiser distributor, during the past two years in their graphics department. She was also employed as a graphic designer for the SAVE program, a violence prevention grant at the University of Northern Iowa.
While employed at Fahr Beverage, Sarah worked directly with the sales team in creating promotional media to advertise Anhueser-Busch products. She created banners, table tents, cooler stickers, and case cards. During her employment for the SAVE program, she was able to design a logo, create a brochure, newspaper ads, flyers, a display case, and worked on a variety of other projects.
Sarah graduated in December 2001 from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in Art, with an emphasis in graphic design. She also has a marketing minor. She resides in Shawnee, Kansas.
Hend Shakntana has joined the APWA staff as a Membership Assistant. For the past three years she has worked as an Automation Services Representative for Trans World Airlines (TWA). In her previous position at TWA, she performed support service functions associated with passenger ticketing by mail, corrected discrepancies on passenger name records, and was responsible for telephone customer services with passengers. Hend was also responsible for processing Federal Express expedite ticketing and invoice processing.
Hend received her high school education in Kuwait City and currently resides in Kansas City, Missouri. She has two children, Noor and Yoseph Alkeadly.
Cortney M. Riese joined the APWA staff as the Communications Manager for the LTAP Clearinghouse. Prior to joining APWA, Cortney was the Communications Coordinator for the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA). At AAFA, she was primarily responsible for managing press relations, coordinating the development and printing of publications, maintaining the website, and writing organizational newsletters.
Cortney is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater with a B.A. in Journalism, with an emphasis in Advertising and Public Relations.
