Dear APWA Members:
The Transportation Research Board is developing a post-disaster debris management handbook for state and local transportation and public works departments. The objective of this research is to develop a comprehensive, actionable handbook covering all phases of the debris management cycle. Two of the most important components of this handbook are a compilation of existing resources and a review of field experience from state and local DOT and DPW officials, contractors, and other staff responsible for debris management. As part of our efforts to develop a useful, comprehensive document, we are asking for your help with a short, online survey—a brief questionnaire intended to help the research team understand the breadth and depth of debris-related experience, and to identify potential participants for case study interviews to be conducted in future phases of this project.
We would greatly appreciate your assistance in forwarding the attached questionnaire to the individuals or groups within your organization who could respond most appropriately. A copy of the results of this survey will be sent to all respondents when the data have been compiled. Please note that we are looking for respondents from a variety of organizations public and private and from all levels of government, it is not limited to transportation and public works departments. The survey is available
here.
If you have any questions about this project or survey please feel free to contact the Task Lead, Julia Moline at 703-849-0610
