APWA Joins Partner Organizations in Outreach to President Trump

APWA has signed onto a letter joining more than 400 surface transportation organizations to show support for President Trump’s commitment to rebuilding the nation’s infrastructure. The coalition letter raises concern about the insufficiency of the nation’s infrastructure systems in continuing to support American competitiveness.

In the letter, the organizations are seeking a balanced infrastructure plan aiming to strengthen the nation’s economy and improve the country’s transportation network. The letter recommends all types of infrastructure throughout the country be proposed and include projects to make businesses more competitive by reducing shipping, commuting, water, and energy costs.

The coalition is calling upon the Trump Administration and Congress to work together to restore the solvency of the Highway Trust Fund and ensure the Federal government’s commitment to a state of the art infrastructure system. It is important that the Highway Trust Fund continue to be a long-term, reliable, dedicated, user-based revenue source in support of surface transportation programs.
