About This Group

Mission

The mission of the Facilities and Grounds Committee of the APWA is to provide APWA members with the resources for exchanging and developing ideas, information, skills, knowledge, and technologies for the operation, management, and maintenance of public buildings, grounds, and parks. The committee also recommends and advances APWA policies and positions concerning public facilities and grounds issues.

About the committee

Often when citizens are asked to define public infrastructure, they mention roads, bridges, water, wastewater, and schools. The majority of the general public, to include our community leaders, forget that our public buildings are also a part of America’s failing infrastructure.

The Committee fulfills its mission by providing facility and grounds maintenance resources you’ll find in the APWA Store, the Resource Center, the APWA Reporter magazine, the Click Listen and Learn programs, and sessions at APWA national conferences.

Resources for members

The Resource Center has a collection of education resources our Facilities and Grounds community can listen to, read, or watch. These items include recorded sessions from past PWX (or International Public Works Congress & Exposition) events, past CLLs, past APWA Reporter magazine articles, and other programs of interest to Facilities and Grounds professionals.

Facilities and Grounds Knowledge Team

In an effort to expand volunteer opportunities to those who may be interested in contributing to the Facilities and Grounds committee, the committee has created a knowledge team. Members of the knowledge team will commit to share information with APWA members through working on projects such as writing articles, presenting Click, Listen, and Learn sessions, speaking at PWX and other conferences and other methods. You can find the knowledge team roster here.
