Public works professionals play a crucial role in keeping our water systems not just safe, but healthy, through the public health practice of community water fluoridation.  Communities have improved their residents’ health by fluoridating their water supplies for almost 70 years, but unfortunately, many people don’t know the benefits they receive from fluoridated water or what they would lose if it’s removed.

This webinar will cover the basics of community water fluoridation, including its history and scientific evidence supporting the practice. It will also include tips and recommendations for talking to customers, community members, and elected officials about this practice, and effective messages to help answers to commonly asked questions about fluoridation.  The webinar is aimed toward public works professionals of all levels who have questions about the safety and benefits of water fluoridation as well as those who want to learn more about improving their community’s health through water fluoridation.

After viewing this program, participants will be better able to:

1) Explain the benefits of community water fluoridation.

2) Respond to questions from their community about fluoridation.

3) Identify additional resources and information available to ensure safe and healthy water systems.
