While it is getting more difficult to recruit, train, develop and retain dynamic employees, some agencies are looking outside traditional means to build a successful team. The City of Lakeland, Florida will share their different avenues, such as working with the school district, to cultivate quality candidates while the City of Phoenix, Arizona will discuss how they created a successful apprenticeship program. Once you have an eager employee, there is still much to be done to keep them engaged. The City of Durham, North Carolina will show how building a Culture of Service, to develop leaders and create a high performing organization, has challenged employees to make a difference.
