APWA Names Top Ten Public Works Leaders
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Today the American Public Works Association (APWA) announced its Top Ten Public Works Leaders of the Year for 2010. Marking the 50th anniversary of the award, the honor is among the most coveted and prestigious presented by APWA.
“The announcement of the selection of the most outstanding public works leaders is the capstone of APWA’s National Public Works Week celebrations,” said Peter B. King, APWA Executive Director. “These public works leaders are nominated from across the U.S. and Canada and selected by a committee of peers. The award recognizes career-long professionalism, expertise, service and personal dedication to improving the quality of life in the communities they serve. They represent the best of our profession and are worthy of this high honor.”

Grube, Director of Transportation & County Engineer, Hennepin County, Minnesota • Richard Keeney, Public Works Director, City of Punta Gorda, Florida • Will Kempton, Chief Executive Officer, Orange County Transportation Authority, Orange, California • Carl L. Quiram, P.E., Director of Public Works, Town of Goffstown, New Hampshire • W. Chris Thompson, P.E., Director of Public Services, City of High Point, North Carolina • Brian J. Ziegler, P.E., Public Works Director, Pierce County, Washington
Each Top Ten Public Works Leader has been recognized at a local event, and also will be honored during the Awards Ceremony as part of APWA’s 2010 International Public Works Congress & Exposition in Boston, Massachusetts, August 15-18, 2010.
