Canadian Public Works Association
The Canadian Public Works Association (CPWA), or Association Canadienne des Travaux Publics, was founded in 1986 to enhance the services of APWA to the Canadian public works community and to improve the quality of public works products and services to Canadian citizens. Since 1986, CPWA has become “the voice of public works in Canada”. CPWA is an organization of public works professionals in Canada who are members of APWA; any individual, agency or corporation in Canada with an interest in public works and infrastructure issues can become a member of CPWA by simply joining APWA.
Micro PAVER User Group
Micro PAVER is a pavement maintenance management system (PMS) used by more than 300 local governments, consulting firms, airport authorities, military bases, and universities worldwide.
Public Works Historical Society
The Public Works Historical Society is the only organization dedicated to documenting and recognizing the historical achievements of the public works profession. It operates under the auspices of APWA and brings together public works administrators, engineers, and historians to conduct and sponsor programs and publications to preserve the legacy of public works. It organizes symposiums and presentations at professional meetings and works closely with museums, libraries, and historical societies to include public works themes and materials in their programs.
Small Cities/Rural Communities (SCRC) Forum
The Small Cities/Rural Communities (SCRC) Forum was developed to help communities with populations less than 50,000 discuss problems unique to their population size. Smaller communities often face different obstacles than larger cities and the SCRC Forum provides an opportunity to voice concerns and share best practices. Every year at the American Public Works Association’s (APWA) Congress, SCRC hosts educational sessions geared to the small community audience, a round-table discussion to talk about unique obstacles and ideas as well as a reception.
Urban Forum
The mission of the Urban Forum is to raise the national consciousness of public works issues, develop learning experiences, share solutions and provide networking opportunities for top executives from large urban jurisdictions. The Urban Forum is designed to be a catalyst for dealing with the changing political, economic and social issues facing those in the urban public works community. There is no separate membership requirement to participate in Urban Forum activities.
